Externally the HTC U20 5G is a pretty generic-looking 2020 smartphone. With its whole punch displaying quad cameras along with surprising throwback design elements like a capacitive rear fingerprint scanner, and a hefty chin down below.
What makes this phone more modern is its specifications sheet. We are talking Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 8 gigabytes of RAM, 256 GB of storage, 5G connectivity, and a gigantic 5,000 mAh battery.
For a phone brand that was largely considered dead and buried that’s not a bad-looking device. If you look at it alongside perhaps the Google ixel 5 smartphone, it sounds like a fairly competitive device.
And speaking of the Pixel 5, it’s fun to remember that the people designing this thing would’ve been working in the very same building as Google’s pixel five engineering team.
HTCs less-than dignified exit from the high-end phone segment a couple of years ago involved a phone with glitchy virtual buttons and stale software redeemed by some of the best cameras of its generation. There’s no mention of the HDR boost feature on HTC U20 5G, instead, HTC focuses on the video stabilization capabilities of its new camera, the 48-megapixel shooter.
That’s likely a Sony IMX 586 or similar. Which are the same sensor used in the Oneplus 7 Pro and many other 2019 flagships. Decent but not outstanding.
The other cameras present on HTC u20 are an 8 MP, f/2.2, 118˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm, a 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) and a 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth). With the main camera you will achieve 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS video recording. But with its 32 MP, f/2.0, (wide), 1/2.8″, 0.8µm selfie shooter, 1080p@30fps videos. Some notable camera features here include Dual-LED flash, HDR, panorama and HDR.
There’s also the question of the software. Even back in 2017, HTC Sence looked absolutely prehistoric compared to the software design of its contemporaries. Little can be said of the HTC U20 5G software besides it runs the Android 10 operating system.
There is still no news on whether or not this will be the case seeing that it has been Android 10 for the longest time now. Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G 5G (7 nm) is a highlight of this smartphone. Powering is also an Octa-core (1×2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1×2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver CPU with Adreno 620. Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Mobile Platform, with 5G modem integrated, optimizes power efficiency.
Another highlight of this U20 5G smartphone would be, again, the fact that it is a 5G powered smartphone.

HTC U20 5G is only available in 256GB storage, with a an option of either 6GB or 8GB or RAM.
In a general sense, we will tell you about other features of the HTC U20 5G. Like its display for example which is an IPS panel that measures 6.8 inches, 111.6 cm2. Besides that, it has a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution with 387 PPI. An AMOLED panel would have made this phone even more desirable if you ask me. Just saying.
Then there is its Li-Po 5000 mAh, a non-removable battery that will last a whole day of usage comfortably.
It supports Fast charging 18W which is Quick Charge 4.0. Finally, this is a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) smartphone that supports a microSDXC card. It has USB Type-C 2.0 port, Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and a Fingerprint scanner (rear-mounted).
